In 1995 Casa Pousadoira opened to
the public as a rural tourism bed and breakfast house as part of
an agricultural family farm complex in the north of the province
of La Coruna. The main house was converted to provide
accommodation as well as being a family home. This was the
beginning of a long term project to restore the abandoned
agricultural buildings in the farm complex. It was our dream to
have a rural lifestyle. This is based on our love of the land
and desire to work in a rural environment and to look for
alternative ways of living off the land. After 10 years we are
still here.
Almost at the same time we had
registered some 2000m of land with the Regulators for Ecological
Agriculture in Galicia in order to produce vegetables for
consumption in the rural house. Later we got involved in a
proactive way in the recovery of native varieties of vines from
the area around Betanzos the medieval capital of Galicia. We
established our vineyard according to the ecological regulations
governing the production of wine. At the moment the vineyard
covers 4000m and we have been producing ecological wine for the
past 2 years.
We hope that all these dreams which
have come to fruition little by little over the past 10 years
tempts and attracts you and encourages you to visit us.
