Lugar de Pousadoira (Place of Pousadoira). Parish of Callobre, Council of Miño, Province of La Coruna. Spain.
Many people not familiar with Galicia know little about our countryside and most of the time are surprised by its character and peculiarities. Galician country side is characterised by a dispersed population which has settled in small groups, hamlets, which make up the parishes, a term which goes beyond the religious definition. It has a tribal connotation. The parish is a territory but sometimes it is also a place. In the case of Callobre it is a territory formed by a collection of hamlets. Pousadoira where we are, is but one of many hamlets which make up the parish of Callobre. The name Pousadoira the name means “An appropriate place to rest” and we think that this is still very appropriate, this is one of the characteristics that our guests appreciate the most. Tranquillity is one of the most valuable aspects of life in Pousadoira.
Around Casa Pousadoira you can go rambling along nature walks, admire the scenery local architecture and wildlife. ½ km away is the river Lambre which has licensed fishing.
We are very close to two principal cities, La Coruna and Ferrol both only 30 km away. We are also close to the main arterial motorways connecting them. Yet we are in a small hamlet surrounded by tranquil countryside and forests, an agricultural environment undisturbed by modern living but having all the necessary amenities. In Pousadoira there are around a dozen houses with about 25 residents. Close by are the hamlets of Vigo, Grana and Cachufeira. There is a restaurant down the hill from the Casa in Grana and 3km away in Feira do Tres there are several bars, a cantina and meson restaurant also a chemist, baker, grocery and newsagent as well as a public open air swimming pool.
Pousadoira is 7km from Miño, a town with a population of about 2000 which doubles in the summer. All services are available in Miño, petrol, banking, medical centre, restaurants and pubs.
