My Grandparents house where my mother and brother were born remained abandoned for many years, my mother and brother having left home when they were very young. The property had passed to my mother and was a ruin about to fall down, the land which in other times had been productive was now a wilderness. The traditional family way of life remained no more. By 1993 I was undertaking my studies in agricultural engineering and needed a subject for my final year project. One day when visiting the old family property I discovered my subject, how to exploit this situation of rural decay and arrive at a profitable solution. Something new and in accordance with the new uses of the countryside, restore these houses as a living places and family homes so that the families could live and work there again. I knew that this would mean a lot of work, there were a lot of different aspects to be taken into account. What I didn’t know then was that that project would eventually become a reality and my own alternative life and work much earlier than presenting the project in order to get my degree. It was Miguel my partner who was the one who suggested we could do this and since then the theory has been put into practice. Today Casa Pousadoira is a rural bed and breakfast and our family home officially classified as a farmhouse class B ( Shared with owners).
Our house is simple and warm where we try to make people feel comfortable and part (for a few days) of our lifestyle and the dreams that move us.
